The oldies are the best . . .
It's a good 'un, no two ways about it. Animation rocked and the dramatic music was perfect. What else is there to say? Nice one!
It's hard not to just use superlatives when describing this Flash, it was fantastic. The concept was great (after all, there's a rather nice cliché being turned on its head) and it was well-scripted, every joke hit the nail right on the head.
Art and animation was perfect. When you set all of your Flash in the same room, the room had better look damn good....and here it did :) There was clearly a lot of careful attention paid to detailing each character as well as the background, it looked great.
Audio was superb. The voice-acting was spot-on (Germaine's lines were delivered particularly well, I was shaking with laughter) and the music and TV sounds were well-chosen.
All in all, 5/5 and 10/10 - Thank you!
First off, I'm not familiar with commercials you've chosen to parody, probably due to geographical reasons.
Concept was good, you nailed the big, overblown marketing tone to a tee.
Art and animation was great, a really good-looking Flash.
Sound was a little shaky, partly due to the mic as you say. I'm not sure about the tone of voice you chose for your character either, it was just a bit too laid-back.... But the sound effects were very good :)
All in all, excellent work :) Keep it up!
Good sign of things to come.
Your animation was excellent, crisp, fluid, and vibrant. You said it was a movement and lip-synching test? Well, the good news is that you've got that down pat, and the voiceover was good too. You've definitely got potential for a good series here, but I couldn't give you more than a seven as it was only a test.
Looking forward to those full episodes!
Watching this Flash was like listening to a piece of minimalist music. You took a simple visual theme and expanded, developed and extrapolated it over the course of the Flash. The subject matter was well-chosen and well-handled, the minimalist visuals were flawless, and the audio worked perfectly. Nothing wrong here at all.
That was brilliant! I'm a big fan of the Awesome series and it was good to see a worthwhile tribute.
Script and concept were brilliant. Like you say, ZoE isn't the trendiest game around, but there was more than enough scope for a parody, and the dialogue was hilarious :)
Art and animation was great, it was much better-looking than most Flashes I've seen lately.
Audio was almost perfect, the voice-acting was perfect and the music was good, but I did think there was some filtering needed to remove some extraneous recording noise (this being Newgrounds, it happens).
Parody, cock jokes, Hideo Kojima, Megadeth - what more could we ask for? :)
I like how you think. lol
Thanks for the awesome review! This covered everything!
Mmm, an unholy marriage of two of my favourite things, Creep and The Nightmare Before Christmas....
Concept was great, these two things were made for each other.
Art and animation was brilliant, a really fitting tribute to a classic movie. I also loved the occasional moments of lyric typography :)
Audio was superb, though I think I prefer the original Radiohead version of Creep :)
All in all, kickass! Enjoy your perfect score, it's well-earned!
They do fit very well together, thanks for the review.
Great tribute :)
This was brilliant, well done! You picked a good scene to pay homage to, your art and animation were superb - seriously, it worked great - and even though I can't credit you for Samuel L's awesome delivery, well...who cares, you still get 5/5 and 10/10.
I want to go and play the Ray games again now after watching this :)
Could be better...
Overall I was a little underwhelmed by this Flash, I was expecting good things after reading the blurb.
Concept was very good...in the blurb. Unfortunately absolutely none of that came through in your storytelling during the movie itself. The closest thing there was to a plot outline was the random collection of characters in the same place, but without any reason given, it just made things seem all over the place. Script was...well, it didn't have a whole lot to do with anything. You'll have to improve your storytelling for future episodes, you can't rely on the blurb to do all the talking.
Art and animation is a tough one to decide about. I'm a sprite agnostic, but you clearly did plenty of work with what you had available.... Full marks for effort, but it was a little uncomfortable on the eye at times.
Sound was fine, no problems there. Music was well chosen, and no real technical issues with the audio.
All in all - you've got a good idea, start doing it justice.
thank you very much fo your constructive critism. Of course, currently, none of the characters know that they are just cyberspace, and the core will explain that to them in episode 3 or 4, but truely, I did lack some of the storytelling. Please also watch episode 2 if you want, I promise It'll be an improvement!!!
I have a friend who's trying to quit at the moment, I'll be showing him this :)
Concept and script was very good, I hope you got an A on that alone. Good message without being preachy, and the script was genuinely funny (good choice on the random cameo).
Art and animation was really, really good, one of the best-looking Flashes I've seen in a long time.
Audio was mostly good. The voice acting was great, but the recording not so much. The voices were quiet and the mic was picking up a lot of extraneous noise. If you're using Audacity or a similar program I'd recommend running their filters. Music was a good choice though :)
All in all, excellent Flash, I look forward to your movie on why we should say no to drugs :P
